Bobii Frutii is coming to Singapore on 10 January 2018 at The Clementi Mall! Finally, something happens in the west first! The bubble tea brand, which was established by two Taiwanese students in 2015, currently has five outlets: three in Taiwan, one in Shenzhen and this one in Singapore.
The extremely instagrammable drinks use only natural ingredients and no preservatives, additives or artificial flavouring, hence the prices are higher than some bubble tea variants around. Also, the Singapore menu features 80% of the selection in Taiwan, with 37 drinks under five categories .

The two fruity slushies that we tried are Mermaid’s Tears ($5.90) and Don’t Want to Grow Up ($6.90). The ice-blended drinks are a tad more expensive compared to the milk teas. The former has quite the list of ingredients: mango, lemon, honey, milk, butterfly pea and butterfly pea bobii, while the latter is comprised primarily of strawberry, mango, milk and yogurt (no toppings).
Extraordinary Bubble Milk Tea ($4.50), one of the more “normal” combinations they have. It is made using black tea, milk and brown sugar bobii. If you are craving for something comforting and familiar, you should give this a try.
After consuming the bobii (or pearls), I realised that they taste nothing like the usual ones we have in Singapore. According to Singapore Brand Ambassador as well as Creative Director Nat Ho, the bobii is made to have a mochi-like texture, accounting for the soft and chewy consistency.
To conclude the preview, Nat Ho gave us a demonstration of how Uji Snow ($6.50) is made. The beautifully segmented green-white coloration is brought about by freshly whisked matcha from Uji, milk and their original bobii. The matcha drink is made to order, ensuring that each beverage tastes fresh and authentic.
